Competitions

One of the best ways for new writers to get their work noticed is through entering competitions. As part of our mission to support new writers and uncover new talent, we organise two competitions, one for narrative fiction (First Drafts) and the other for narrative illustration (First Graphic Novel Competition).

For both competitions, we invite submissions of a work-in-progress, rather than a completed manuscript. Our top-notch judging panels bring together established authors, agents, booksellers and other literary professionals to help us judge each entry simply on its potential, on the promise of what it might become. Every author who is shortlisted is able to benefit from constructive and professional feedback at this early stage in their careers.

Myriad’s competitions are now established benchmarks, with track records of discovering exciting new work and launching debut writers who have gone on to commercial and creative success.
