Susheila Nasta is guest panellist at Time For Unity, a Brighton Women’s Centre Conference on the 19th November. She will be talking alongside Helen Pankhurst, Baroness Helena Kennedy, Natasha Walter and Cash Carraway. The conference is open to the public and will be held at the Brighthelm Centre.

Susheila is the editor of Wasafiri magazine and also Brave New Words, a collection of specially commissioned essays by Bernardine Evaristo, Githa Hariharan, Eva Hoffman, Romesh Gunesekera, James Kelman, Tabish Khair, Kei Miller, Blake Morrison, Mukoma wa Ngugi, Hsiao-Hung Pai, Olumide Popoola, Shivanee Ramlochan, Bina Shah, Raja Shehadeh and Marina Warner. The essays each explore the value of critical thinking, the power of the written word, and the resonance of literature in the twenty-first century.

Published to celebrate 35 years of Wasafiri, the leading magazine of international literature, Brave New Words imagines writing across shifting and troubled borders, and diverse possibilities for living, working, and belonging together.

Brave New Words will be published a week prior to the event and copies will be available to purchase at the event via The Feminist Bookshop, alongside other Myriad titles.

The conference celebrates Brighton Women’s Centre’s 45th year, providing a space to discuss gender equality and celebrate the work of BWC and their partners. Brighton Women’s Centre supports self-identifying women in Sussex. They help women from all backgrounds, facing all kinds of issues, to live happier lives.
