Glasgow Women’s Library are showcasing their upcoming events, exhibitions and workshops on the 23rd May from 1 pm – 2.30 pm then 6 pm – 7.30 pm. Head along for free to see exhibition previews, browse the second hand book sale, meet our team and find out what’s coming up in the GWL Summer programme, eat cake and drink tea.

Graphic novelist and cartoonist Kate Charlesworth will be attending to share her soon-to-be-published Sensible Footwear: A Girl’s Guide, the launch of which will take place at GWL  on Saturday 27th July.

Sensible Footwear is a fascinating history of how post-war Britain transformed from a country hostile towards ‘queer’ lives to the LGBQTI+ universe of today, recording the political gains and challenges against a backdrop of personal experience: realising her own sexuality, coming out to her parents, enbracing lesbian and gay culture, losing friends to AIDS.
