Author and comics scholar, Nicola Streeten will be in discussion with Lynne Parker at this year’s Alternative Comedy Now Festival at the University of Kent. Their talk is titled, ‘Women in Comics and Women Comics’.

Nicola is co-editor of The Inking Woman (Myriad, 2018), a groundbreaking picture-led celebration of the work of over 100 named British artists, addressing inclusion of art by women of underrepresented backgrounds.

‘Indispensable and obligatory, The Inking Woman is an absolute triumph on every level.’ Andy Oliver, Broken Frontier.

Organised by the Popular & Comic Performance Research Centre (PCP) and the Centre for Comedy Studies Research (CCSR), the conference will coincide with a festival of alternative comedy at the Gulbenkian Theatre, and an exhibition of historical artefacts from the British Stand-Up Comedy Archive at the University of Kent.
