Author and artist Sarah Lightman will feature in The Koppel Gallery’s group exhibition titled, A Room of One’s Own. The exhibition will run for a month and features twelve women artists, including Paresha Amin, Rafaela de Ascanio, Scarlett Bowman and Molly Rose Butt.

A Room of One’s Own presents an array of female painters whose work expands from the canvas to include ceramics, installation, collage and sculpture. The exhibition, which title is inspired by Virginia Woolf’s influential feminist essay, takes a small step towards redressing past imbalances and aims to pave the way for true meritocracy in the art world.

Sarah is author of the soon-to-be-published The Book of Sarah, an alternative bible to the one she grew up with.  Distilled from thousands of diary drawings begun in her parents’ garden shed back in 1996, Sarah Lightman’s The Book of Sarah traces her journey from modern Jewish orthodoxy to a feminist Judaism, as she searches between the complex layers of family and family history that she inherited and inhabited.
