African artists from the continent and the Diaspora showcase performances that they took to the Mboka Festival of Arts, Culture and Spot in The Gambia, January 2019. The Brighton event will include poetry, storytelling, music and film. There will also be a New Daughters of Africa feature, with readings from contributors Anni Domingo, Tj Dema and others TBC. The event follows the Mboka Festival London, which takes place on the 16th August in Islington.
Featuring women across the diaspora, New Daughters of Africa illuminates the richness and cultural history of this original continent and its enduring influence, while reflecting our own lives and issues today. Bold and insightful, brilliant in its intimacy and universality, this essential volume honours the talents of African daughters and the inspiring legacy that connects them—and all of us.
Tickets and the event programme can be found on the Mboka Festival Eventbrite page.
