Manu Joseph at Edinburgh International Book Festival

Join Manu Joseph at the Edinburgh International Book Festival as he discusses his new novel, Miss Laila, Armed and Dangerous (Myriad, 2018).

The title character of Joseph’s new book is a teenage sweetheart and terror suspect, pursued after a Mumbai building collapses. Pervasive in its comic realism, wicked in its humour and broad-based in its canvas, Miss Laila, Armed and Dangerous is a fierce, profound and illuminating portrait of our age of globalisation and populist politics.

Joseph is joined in discussion by Jeet Thayil, on his new work, The Book of Chocolate Saints. The novel is loosely based on the Indian arts scene of the 1970s and 80s, and centres on a fearless, full-blooded artist.

These talented authors share witty, wild novels filled with danger and incredible characters.
