Becoming Unbecoming is a devastating personal account of gender violence, set against the backdrop of the 1970s Yorkshire Ripper man-hunt. Since publication last month, praise has been building for the book: following coverage in Emerald Street, Big Issue, Broken Frontier and on BBC Radio 4’s Woman’s Hour (listen again), Becoming Unbecoming was selected for Elle magazine’s Ultimate Feminist Reading List and was included in Stylist magazine’s ‘best books from independent publishers‘ selection (‘a major new voice speaking out about the silencing of women’).
