Henny Beaumont presents her graphic memoir at Hay Festival

This year marks the 27th anniversary of the annual Welsh Hay Festival, and we are happy to announce that this year Henny Beaumont will be appearing to discuss her moving graphic memoir, Hole in the Heart: Bringing Up Beth, with Georgina Goodwin.

On Mother’s Day 2001, Henny gave birth to her third child. For the first few hours, her baby seemed no different from her two other little girls… With stunning art and refreshing honesty, Henny describes how family life changed the moment the registrar told her and her husband that their daughter might have Down’s syndrome. Henny’s wit and irony transform a deeply traumatic personal experience into a story that will resonate with every parent.

The Hay Festival brings writers from around the world together to debate and share stories, and celebrates great writing from poets and scientists, lyricists and novelists. Situated in the unparalleled beauty of the Welsh Borders, this promises to be a wonderful event.
